While coffee will forever be my first love, I’ve actually started drinking black tea in the mornings. That soon progressed to little tea lattes with plain coconut milk, and then I started adding turmeric and other spices for the anti-inflammatory benefits. I have some autoimmune and inflammation issues and sometimes the pain makes it hard to go about my day (not to whine). Silly as it sounds, this vegan keto golden milk tea latte really help with that.

This is a really easy recipe, but I thought it deserved its own post, instead of just being relegated to an instagram story. I make these so often, and even keep a jar of the coconut milk and spice blend mixed together in my fridge to use as creamer for my coffee.

I also like to make a decaf version of this before bed with chamomile tea in place of the black tea. I find it to be so warming and delicious. It really helps me drift off to sleep.  Another great base for a pre-bedtime decaf tea golden latte is vanilla sleepytime tea.

Notes on Making Vegan Keto Golden Milk Tea Latte

  • I love adding a monkfruit sugar-free maple syrup as a sweetener here. I feel like it just makes everything extra delicious and breakfasty. Of course, you could use whatever sweetener you want in its place. I really like this brand of sugar-free syrup because it’s the only one I’ve found that doesn’t upset my stomach.
  • For a stronger tea flavor, instead of using coconut milk, you could also use 1 tbsp of powdered coconut milk. This will make the latte creamy, but also still strong.
  • To make this decaf, you could substitute the brewed black tea for decaf, rooibos or an herbal tea. You could also use heated non-dairy milk for a super creamy version.
  • Curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, is actually best absorbed in the presence of piperin (found in black pepper). So, I like to add a pinch of black pepper to this as well sometimes.
  • You can also add 1 tsp of MCT oil for extra keto-ness.
  • To get a nice little frothy bit on top, I like to run this through my blender for about 30 seconds on medium-high.
  • Remember to subtract sugar alcohols from the total carbs to get to net carbs!
  • Keep in mind that different ingredient brands and varieties may have different nutritional information. So, while I strive to provide accurate numbers, your calculations may come up with something slightly different.
